I have a confession. I’ve only visited 6 continents. I had a goal to hit all 7 by the time I was 30. Then it was 40. And then [gasp] it slipped again at 50. But I’m bound and determined to get to Antarctica by 2015.
There are a lot of ways to get there, but the one that’s most interesting to me is the Quark Expeditions Antarctic Express: Cross the Circle itinerary. This one’s a bit different from the others in its efficiency. By flying from the bottom of South America, directly to the continent, 2 days are saved at each of the trip crossing the [sometimes choppy seas] of the Drake Passage. The extra days on continent mean that you get to actually cross the Antarctic Circle — a big goal of mine, and something very few of the other trips actually offer.
So how about even more snow and ice this winter? We’ll show you the way!
